Gorgeous Rare Black Sea Glass Necklace!!
This piece of flawless, surf-tumbled and substantial black glass was picked up off the sand of a beach in Puerto Rico by myself recently. The sea glass almost looked like a stone until I held it to the light and saw the faintest hint of light shining through a small edge of the glass. This piece is very old. Look carefully at the gorgeous patina of this sea glass. It is beautifully-pitted and polished. It probably started off its life as an old rum bottle back when it was believed that black glass preserved the alcohol longer than lighter shades of glass. This piece, in all probability, was tossed around in the ocean for 200 + years before washing ashore!. It is wire-wrapped with .925 Sterling Silver wire. A genuine Swarovski Crystal completes the pendant. Either the front or the back is suitable for display as seen in the pictures. It measures 7/8" by 1 3/4". A pretty Sterling Silver chain in the length of your choice comes with the pendant.
** True GENUINE black sea glass will have an aura of olive and brown (if very old) outline around the edges of it when held to the light. However, it will NOT appear olive or brown. It will look black. That is very important to keep in mind when investing in a black piece of sea glass. Olive and brown are very common colors and, therefore, least desirable to collectors and lower in value and price. If you would like to know more about the history of black sea glass, please convo me. I can talk history all day long;) I love it!!

**** Please remember, ALL of my sea glass is genuine, ocean-tumbled sea glass that I collect off the rocky and sandy shores myself. It is NEVER machine-tumbled. Please pay close attention to listings for sea glass and do not be afraid to ask the seller questions about where her/his sea glass originated from. It saddens me to say that some sellers will use machine-tumbled glass and list it as genuine sea glass. When it is too consistent in shape to other pieces, has too many rare colors in similar shapes, has a smoother rather than more pitted patina or its price does not reflect the value of the sea glass, it is probably too good to be true. When in doubt, please ask. You are helping to preserve the integrity of the sea glass art by doing so and I along with my colleagues thank you for that :)
