GENUINE Black Sea Glass Necklace Crescent Moon
Sea glass as unique as this rare black gem used in this pendant needs an equally-unique partner to accompany it. This handmade, glass lampwork bead really fits the bill! The handmade glass in bead depicts a beautiful crescent moon in the black night sky over either the ocean or land - I will leave that part to your imagination! It is hard to capture how detailed and beautiful this bead is without seeing it in person. It is magnificent! I wire wrapped the sea glass and bead together in all .925 Sterling Silver wire and spacers. The front and back of the bead are identical. The pendant measures 3/4" by 2 1/2" and comes with a pretty 18" .925 Sterling Silver chain. If you prefer 20" instead, just convo me!
This is a beautiful and rare piece of old black sea glass. This piece of flawless, surf-tumbled and substantial black glass was picked up off the sand of a beach in Puerto Rico by myself recently. The sea glass almost looked like a stone until I held it to the light and saw the faintest hint of light shining through a small edge of the glass. This piece is very old. Look carefully at the gorgeous patina of this sea glass. It is beautifully-pitted and polished. It probably started off its life as an old rum bottle back when it was believed that black glass preserved the alcohol longer than lighter shades of glass. This piece, in all probability, was tossed around in the ocean for 100 to 200 years before washing ashore.
Since I collect my own sea glass, I would be happy to provide you with a written history of where this sea glass was found as well as any possible "past lives" upon request. Remember, you are purchasing not only an object of beauty, but a piece of history as well!
Like all my jewelry, this necklace comes beautifully-boxed with pretty ribbon as seen in the pictures - ready for gift-giving!
